Prior to submitting a planning application for a development project, landowners could save time and money if they take an early approach to tree planning and management.
“We often go on site thinking that if only they had called us in earlier to put a structured, health and safety management plan in place to remove the trees that are unhealthy, we then would avoid complexities and delays within the planning process” says Jon Gibbs, AOS Tree Consultant. “We ensure good relationships with District Tree Officers and Planners, disclosing the sequence of planning applications with a view that the client gets a good quality, timely development”.
Many of the tree related issues can be dealt with before they get to planning and therefore excluded from the negotiations. A tree in poor health can be removed and no longer part of the picture and therefore does not feature in a tree report.
Council planning officers may take a view of saving everything, therefore by presenting a case that focusses on the position and health of fewer trees it is possible to reach agreement
Evidence of site management saves time and money; it also shows that the landowner has considered the landscape and environment rather than purely out to make money.
